Abstract:
We analyzed the distribution of the Black Ctenosaur Ctenosaura similis in three habitat types in Santa Rosa National Park, Costa Rica: open area, forest and administrative area (suburban). We registered 101 individuals, 32.7% were females, 19.8% males and 47.5% of sex indeterminate. We registered 58 adult individuals and 43 juvenile individuals. The number of individuals in each habitat type was determined by the availability of food resources and habitat characteristics. We conclude that individuals of C. similis segregate by age and habitat types. It is possible that this segregation is determined by the availability of food resources and habitat characteristics.
